'''Paul Resnick''' is a Professor at the University of Michigan School of Information. He previously worked as a researcher at AT&T Labs and AT&T Bell Labs, and as an Assistant Professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He received the master's and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Michigan.

Professor Resnick's research focuses on SocioTechnical Capital, productive social relations that are enabled by the ongoing use of information and communication technology. His current projects include making recommender systems resistant to manipulation through rater reputations, nudging people toward politically balanced news consumption and health behavior change, and crowdsourcing fact-correction on the Internet.

Resnick was a pioneer in the field of [[recommender systems]], and helped develop the [[GroupLens]] system.

I came here to get some information, but as a wiki addict, I couldn't resist adding my two cents :) By the way, the message above reminded me: While I was creating [[Template:Person]], I felt the need for [[mw:Extension:ParserFunctions|Extension:ParserFunctions]]. They would be very useful for many tasks with templates, namely standardization/automation of information adding, navigation, etc. Could you provide that the extension is installed/enabled on this wiki? It's getting kinda annoying :/ If you do that, you'll probably want to raise the [[mw:Manual:User rights#List of Groups|thresholds for autoconfirmed promotion]] (by default they are zero, so every new user becomes autoconfirmed as soon as they register, which in practice would render captchas only visible to anonymous users if autoconfirmed ones were exempt). Alternatively, the "emailconfirmed" user group could be used for skipping captchas. What do you think? I came here to get some information, but as a wiki addict, I couldn't resist adding my two cents :) By the way, the message above reminded me: While I was creating [[Template:Person]], I felt the need for [[mw:Extension:ParserFunctions|Extension:ParserFunctions]]. They would be very useful for many tasks with templates, namely standardization/automation of information adding, navigation, etc. Could you provide that the extension is installed/enabled on this wiki? Other extension that is quite useful/time-saving is [[mw:Extension:Interwiki|Extension:Interwiki]], for providing shortcut prefixes for commonly linked pages, in the form <tt><nowiki>[[site:pagename]]</nowiki></tt>. Also, it would be great if you could define <tt>[[mw:Manual:$wgUseInstantCommons|$wgUseInstantCommons = true;]]</tt> in LocalSettings.php, so we can use images from [[commons:|Wikimedia Commons]]. He previously worked as a researcher at AT&T Labs and AT&T Bell Labs, and as an Assistant Professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
